GULFSHORE PLAYHOUSE SEEKS A MANAGER OF HUMAN RESOURCES

Gulfshore Playhouse, a mission-driven, professional theatre company located in Naples, Florida, is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented and organized individual to serve as Manager of Human Resources. 

Gulfshore Playhouse offers a diverse season of straight plays and musicals ranging from venerated classics and Broadway hits to contemporary works and world premieres. Gulfshore Playhouse is passionately committed to  producing high-quality, professional theatre which exceeds the expectations of the cultured residents and visitors of Naples, FL, many of whom are regular theatre patrons in New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and  Washington, D.C. 

Gulfshore Playhouse recently opened the Gulfshore Playhouse Baker Theatre and Education Center, a state-of-the art facility, featuring a 365-seat mainstage with a Broadway-sized stage, a 125-seat flexible space, rehearsal studios, classrooms, and rental space. In 2022, Gulfshore Playhouse became nationally recognized as the 77th member of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT). This is an extraordinarily exciting time for Gulfshore Playhouse, which is experiencing unprecedented growth in a collaborative and creative community. 

Status: Full-time, year-round position, Overtime exempt

The ideal individual will have a strong drive to provide high-quality work, the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work as part of the team. Gulfshore Playhouse values hard work, kindness, generosity, passion, and grace-under-pressure.  Employee will be expected to work extended hours on occasion when necessary to meet goals. Weekend and evening hours may be required including attendance at performances, special events, and/or meetings that may  happen outside normal scheduled hours. 

The Manager of HR reports directly to the COO & Managing Director. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

• Handling contracts for Employer’s personnel including full time staff, seasonal staff and production over hires.
• Manage the onboarding/offboarding of personnel and independent contractors, ensuring proper paperwork is processed and in place with appropriate payroll company and health insurance provider.
• Serving as the human resources contact for GP Team Members and liaising with PEO.
• Process payroll for staff and guest artists.
• Manage/track/assist team members with benefits including paid time off, health benefits, 403b, etc.
• Provide guidance on conflict resolution and disciplinary actions.
• Ensure fair and consistent application of company polices and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual.
• Manage benefit programs and relationships with vendors.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws.
• Manage legal HR matters.
• Work any events as may be required by employer including but not limited to opening night celebrations, and the annual gala fundraiser.
• Provide services in a manner in accordance with the guidelines contained within Employer’s employee manual and style guide.

L. Rendering such other services as may reasonably be required by Employer and as are customarily furnished by a HR Manager at a first-class professional theatrical organization in the United States. 

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred)

7-10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience

Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices

Ethical judgement and discretion

Compensation & Benefits: 

Salary commensurate with experience.
