EDUCATION ASSOCIATES

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Education, the Education Associates (2) play an essential role in supporting the daily operations and programs of the Gulfshore Playhouse Education Department. Education Associates work closely with the Gulfshore Playhouse Education team, teaching artists, and students across all programs, including ThinkTheatre, ArtReach, and the Conservatory.

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain accurate student records, assist with enrollment, attendance tracking, and data management.
  2. Help coordinate class schedules, program calendars, and logistical needs for educational events.
  3. Communicate with families, schools, and community partners in a timely and professional manner.
  4. Assist with room setup, cleanup, material prep, and costume/prop organization as needed.
  5. Support the development of education content including printed materials, curriculum packets, and marketing collateral.
  6. Take thorough and organized notes during departmental and program-related meetings, ensuring key decisions, action items, and deadlines are accurately documented and shared with the appropriate team members in a timely manner.

CREATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of all education programs, including school-based residencies, camps, classes, workshops, and performances.
  2. Serve as a Lead or Supporting Teaching Artist in Process Drama (Story Explorers), Introductory Musical Theatre Skills (Broadway Bootcamp), and Performance/Backstage Intensive classes, as appropriate. Occasional evening and weekend availability as required.
  3. Ensure all Education programs align with Gulfshore Playhouse’s mission and educational goals.
  4. Direct, music direct, choreograph, or stage manage Conservatory productions, as appropriate

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theatre, Education, Arts Administration, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Previous experience working with children and teens in an educational or arts environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of students, teaching artists, and staff.
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as programming requires.
  • Ability to pass a background check for working with children
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Desired Qualifications and Skills:

  • Directing and/or choreographing experience with varying levels of production support
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with in-house and external designers, directors, music directors, and choreographers
  • High preference to those with an extensive dance education background are preferred.
  • Bilingual is a plus
