GULFSHORE PLAYHOUSE SEEKS OVERHIRE STAGE CREW
Gulfshore Playhouse, a mission-driven, professional theatre company located in Naples, Florida, is seeking dynamic, detail-oriented and organized individuals to serve as Overhire Stage Crew.
Gulfshore Playhouse offers a diverse season of straight plays and musicals ranging from venerated classics and Broadway hits to contemporary works and world premieres. Gulfshore Playhouse is passionately committed to producing high-quality, professional theatre which exceeds the expectations of the cultured residents and visitors of Naples, FL.
Gulfshore Playhouse opened the Baker Theatre and Education Center, a state-of-the-art facility featuring a 350-seat mainstage with a Broadway-sized stage, a 125-seat flexible space, rehearsal studios, classrooms, and rental space in October 2024. In 2022, Gulfshore Playhouse became nationally recognized as the 77th member of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT).
Status: Temporary hourly position
Contract Dates: February 8, 2027 – April 11, 2027
The Overhire Stage Crew will assist with load-in, serve as run crew on assigned shows, and assist other departments when needed.
The ideal individual will have a strong drive to provide high-quality work, sound judgment, strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work as part of a team. Some weekend and evening hours are required.
Skills
- Experience using hand and power tools
- Knowledge of wood construction, fabrication techniques, and scenic engineering
- Understanding of construction drawings; basic CAD or Vectorworks knowledge preferred
- Ability to read, build, and execute a cut list
- Creative problem-solving
- Effective oral and written communication
- Ability to manage time and productivity effectively
- Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
Duties
- Assist with production load-ins
- Serve as show crew for assigned productions
- Assist lighting, sound, paints, props, costumes, and other departments as needed
- Read all reports and act on assigned notes
- Adhere to all safety protocols at all times
- Assist with special events as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- One to two years of experience in the field, including college-level experience
- Carpentry or welding coursework or professional experience
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders and mobile lifts, use catwalks, and work at heights
- Ability to work overhead with heavy equipment
- Ability to work in tight, enclosed, elevated, and dark spaces
- Ability to stand for long periods depending on assignment
- Ability to work in and with proper personal protective equipment
- Lighting, scenic painting, or props experience is a plus
- Ability to safely operate shop equipment and tools

Compensation: $20 per hour, with overtime after 40 hours. A travel stipend and housing will be provided during the contract.
