Opening Night of The World Goes ’Round: An Evening to Remember

Opening Night of The World Goes ’Round: An Evening to Remember

The third season at the Baker Theatre and Education Center is officially underway! On Friday, October 23, Gulfshore Playhouse celebrated Opening Night of The World Goes ’Round, and the music of John Kander and Fred Ebb filled the Struthers Studio.

The evening started with a pre-show dinner for sponsors and guests in the Struthers Rehearsal Hall. Over dinner, Founder, CEO & Producing Artistic Director Kristen Coury sat down with Director/Choreographer Dann Dunn to talk about bringing this Kander & Ebb revue to life.

Then it was showtime. Galyana Castillo, Alanna J. Smith, Chessa Metz, Matthew Michael Janisse and Jacquez D.L. Linder-Long took the stage with a live band led by Music Director Trevor M. Pierce. Together they gave the Opening Night audience some of musical theatre’s best-loved songs, from “All That Jazz” and “Cabaret” to “New York, New York.” The show is set in a swanky club with cabaret-style seating, so the audience was right there with the cast for every high note and every jazz hand.

After the curtain call, the celebration carried on in the lobby. Guests mingled with the cast, musicians and creative team and swapped favorite moments from the show. Then the company gathered on the lobby steps for an Opening Night photo.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to the sponsors and supporters who make extraordinary theatre possible at Gulfshore Playhouse. If you weren’t there on Opening Night, there’s still time to see the show.

The World Goes ’Round runs through November 22 in the Struthers Studio at Gulfshore Playhouse. Seats are limited in this intimate space, so don’t wait to get yours.
