Become an intern at Gulfshore Playhouse and be immersed in an intensive experience at a growing world-class professional theatre. The Gulfshore Playhouse internship program is an ideal program for recent graduates and post-grads looking to gain practical field experience, develop and refine skills, and work closely with theatre professionals. And, as an added bonus, you get to live just minutes from the beautiful white sand beaches of Naples!


About the Program

Gulfshore Playhouse is a growing professional theatre driven by values of artistic excellence, workplace candor, and integrity. We value every voice and recognize the important role each team member plays in bringing excellent theatrical and educational opportunities to our patrons and community. Interns are highly respected members of our team. This is a supportive, fast-paced, artistic community where we value creativity, dedication, and enthusiasm. On top of gaining valuable, practical skills in a specific field, interns have the opportunity to get inside the workings of a professional theatre, network with professionals and artists from the industry, pursue self-outlined goals, and experience departments outside their specific field.

The internship program is a full season contract beginning in September and ending in May (contract dates vary depending on the season). Interns receive a weekly stipend and fully furnished housing (including utilities, WiFi, and cable). Interns additionally receive complimentary tickets to every Gulfshore Playhouse production.


Candidates for the program will be prepared to enter a full-time, seasonal position beginning in September. Candidates must relocate to Naples, Florida for the period of the internship contract. The ideal candidate is ready to commit to full-time work hours.

Past Internships Include

The Carpentry Intern works with the Technical Director and other scenic production team members to build, load-in, strike, and upkeep each production.

The Development Intern works with the department to assist with the administrative needs of the department, aid in the planning and execution of donor events, and forge great relationships with Gulfshore Playhouse’s patrons and donors.

The Education Intern assists Gulfshore Playhouse’s Education department by acting as a teaching artist, aiding in curriculum development, working with students in after-school and summer programs, and more.

The Lighting and Sound Intern works closely with the Master Electrician and Sound Engineer in load-in, strike, and upkeep, in addition to operating the sound/light board during performances.

The Marketing Intern is largely responsible for creating content and maintaining Gulfshore Playhouse’s social media channels, in addition to assisting with the coordination of the department’s other needs.

Stage Management interns get on-the-job experience serving as Assistant Stage Managers for Gulfshore Playhouse’s mainstage Equity season. SM interns are present throughout the rehearsal process, assisting the Equity Stage Manager and perform backstage duties during production runs. Stage Management Interns additionally assist the Production department in the shop while not working on shows.

Wardrobe interns get on-the-job experience by working with professional actors backstage for the season productions. Wardrobe Interns assist with all costuming needs backstage, such as getting actors into costumes, quick changes, wig maintenance, and more.
