Jaden O’Berry
Lighting Technician
Jaden O’Berry is a lighting practitioner and educator from Flint, Michigan. She has been involved in lighting design and technician work since 2014, been given praise for her craft by official adjudicators, and worked with professionals in the lighting field for over a decade.
She was the 2024 recipient of the Award for Theatrical Lighting Design Excellence at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. Jaden was also a 2020 recipient of the Diversity in Design Scholarship from LDI & LiveDesign, and a 2023 Fred Foster Mentee with ETC. In March of 2025, Jaden was a finalist for the Gilbert Hemsley Internship and presented her portfolio at the Hemsley Lighting Portfolio Review in New York City.
Outside of theatre, Jaden is passionate about writing, music, Shakespeare, and social justice. She is known to be highly motivated and refuses to stand down to prejudice, especially against LGBTQIA+ people, a community with whom she identifies.
Jaden graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a B.A. in Theatre in 2022. In 2025, Jaden obtained her M.F.A. in Lighting Design alongside a graduate certificate in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Illinois State University.
