Gulfshore Playhouse, a not-for-profit, professional theatre company located in Naples, Florida, is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented and experienced individual to serve as Wardrobe Supervisor.

Gulfshore Playhouse offers a diverse season of straight plays and small musicals ranging from venerated classics and Broadway hits to contemporary works and world premieres. The Playhouse is passionately committed to producing high-quality, professional theatre which exceeds the expectations of the cultured residents and visitors of Naples, FL, many of whom are regular theatre patrons in New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C.

Gulfshore Playhouse has performed for many years in an intimate 200-seat venue at the Norris Center, a municipal building run by the City of Naples. The Playhouse is in the final phases of a $66M capital campaign and has broken ground on the Baker Theatre and Education Center, a state-of-the-art facility, featuring a 350-seat mainstage with a Broadway-sized stage, a 125-seat flexible space, rehearsal studios, classrooms, and rental space. This is an extraordinarily exciting time for the Playhouse, which is experiencing unprecedented growth, and the Wardrobe Supervisor will have the opportunity to participate in it.

Status: Full time, year-round position

Start Date: July 5, 2022

Representative Duties:

Reporting to the Costume Shop Manager, the Wardrobe Supervisor will work with the Costume Designer and Costume Shop to provide wardrobe and wig support for all Gulfshore Playhouse professional and educational productions and special events. Principal duties and responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Running wardrobe for all Gulfshore Playhouse productions, including pre-show preparation
  • Setting up, maintaining, and breaking down of all dressing room spaces pre-show and during the run, including signage, individual stations, and cleaning of the dressing rooms
  • Upkeep of costumes and wigs during run of the show, including repairs, nightly Participates in weekly schedule of picking up and dropping off of dry-cleaning
  • Transferring costume design plot into actor paperwork
  • Creating change sheets and quick-change paperwork, if necessary
  • Providing costumes and dressing support for photo calls
  • Assisting Costume Designer and Costume Shop Manager with all duties, including stitching, shopping, draping, fittings, research, etc.
  • Assisting with load-ins of costumes for start of tech and strike of costumes after closing performance
  •  Assisting other departments as instructed by Director of Production or Costume Shop Manager
  • Attending all necessary meetings including, but not limited to, production meetings and company meetings
  • Provide technical support for special events or fundraisers
  • Ensuring safety and policy adherence at all calls
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of all shop and theatre work spaces
  • Attend all staff meetings and other meetings as required
  • Work any events as may be required by employer including but not limited to the annual luncheon fundraiser, and the annual gala fundraiser
  • Rendering such other services as may reasonably be required by Employer and as are customarily furnished by a Wardrobe Supervisor at a first-class professional theatrical organization in the United States

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate would possess:

  • Strong organizational skills, knowledge of appropriate wardrobe paperwork and industry standards
  • Familiarity with AEA rules
  • Experience in wig maintenance of styles and wig application
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of managing variety personalities with professionalism and grace
  • Comports self with patience and flexibility
  • Ability to prioritize and self-start tasks
  • Ability to work with a team and skillfully delegate work

Salary: $38,000 – $40,000 annually, plus excellent benefits that increase along with tenure, including health, dental, and vision insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan, and paid vacation and sick leave.
