Salary Range: $45,000 – $48,000
Position Summary:
Gulfshore Playhouse is seeking a dynamic, organized, and community-minded Education Coordinator to oversee ArtReach, our community engagement program designed to bring high-quality theatre education to local schools, nonprofits, and underserved populations.
Reporting to the Director of Education, the Education Coordinator plays a key role in developing and sustaining community engagement partnerships and programs at Gulfshore Playhouse. This position oversees all facets of ArtReach, including coordinating field trips, theatre experiences, lectures, and classes that take place both on- and off-site; maintaining strong communication with school and community partners; and coordinating with teaching artists. With a focus on mission-driven, educationally aligned programming, the ArtReach Coordinator ensures meaningful and accessible arts experiences for students of all ages. In collaboration with the Director of Education and Producing Artistic Director, this role supports strategic planning, tracks program impact, and works to expand ArtReach’s presence throughout Southwest Florida. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, collaborative, and passionate about the role theatre plays in education and community building.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cultivate relationships with schools, libraries, senior centers, and other community organizations to bring theatre-based programming to youth and adult audiences.
- Organize and execute field trips, in-theatre experiences, lectures, and classes for both student and adult participants at Gulfshore Playhouse and in community spaces.
- Coordinate with teaching artists to provide curricular materials, set expectations, and ensure alignment with Gulfshore Playhouse’s mission and objectives.
- Work with the Director of Education to tailor age-appropriate and culturally relevant programming for both Pre-K-12 students and adult learners.
- Manage transportation, space reservations, tech needs, and materials for all ArtReach events and classes to ensure smooth execution of both youth and adult programming.
- Serve as the main point of contact for partner organizations, providing updates, collecting feedback, and handling all scheduling and logistical coordination.
- Collect, organize, and analyze attendance numbers and demographic data to assess program reach and effectiveness.
- Implement surveys and feedback tools for students, teachers, adult participants, and teaching artists to evaluate the educational value and community impact of ArtReach offerings.
- Serve as a teaching artist in the Conservatory, delivering high-quality theatre education to students in both group and individual settings, fostering a creative and engaging learning environment.
- Utilize knowledge and expertise in musical theatre to guide and inspire students in the Conservatory, ensuring they gain a well-rounded understanding of performance techniques, vocal skills, and stage presence.
- Work closely with the Director of Education and Producing Artistic Director to develop long-term strategies for growing ArtReach’s footprint across Southwest Florida.
- Ensure all ArtReach programs align with Gulfshore Playhouse’s mission and educational goals.
- Represent Gulfshore Playhouse and its education programs at community events and partnership initiatives.
Requirements for ArtReach Coordinator:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Theatre, Arts Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a formal or informal setting, with a focus on theatre education and arts programming.
- Experience in community outreach and partnership development, including working with schools, community organizations, and various local stakeholders.
- Strong background in musical theatre, including both performance and teaching aspects, with a passion for engaging students in this genre.
- Experience as a teaching artist, preferably in both youth and adult educational settings, with a focus on theatre arts and/or musical theatre.
- Proven ability to coordinate and manage educational programs, from scheduling and logistics to communication with participants and partners.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with a variety of audiences, including students, parents, teachers, and community partners.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Experience in curriculum development that aligns with educational standards and goals, and is adaptable to different age groups and skill levels.
- Knowledge of best practices in arts education and the ability to apply these principles in the context of community outreach programs and educational settings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides), as well as familiarity with relevant technology for coordinating virtual or hybrid learning environments.
- A passion for the transformative power of theatre and education, with a commitment to fostering creativity, inclusivity, and personal growth in students of all backgrounds.
- Flexibility to work both on-site and off-site, with occasional evening and weekend hours for community events or programming.
