Cheteyan Production Fellow

Gulfshore Playhouse, a mission-driven, professional theatre company located in Naples, Florida, is seeking a Production Fellow. The newly developed program offers freshman or sophomores an immersive experience working with professional staff and designers in a dynamic nonprofit arts environment.

Gulfshore Playhouse offers a diverse season of straight plays and musicals ranging from venerated classics and Broadway hits to contemporary works and world premieres. The Playhouse is passionately committed to producing high-quality, professional theatre which exceeds the expectations of the cultured residents and visitors of Naples, FL, many of whom are regular theatre patrons in New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. 

Gulfshore Playhouse recently opened the Baker Theatre and Education Center, a state-of-the-art facility, featuring a 368-seat Broadway-sized mainstage, a 125-seat flexible space, rehearsal studios, classrooms, and rental space.  In 2022, Gulfshore Playhouse became nationally recognized as the 77th member of the League of Resident Theatres (LORT). This is an extraordinarily exciting time for the Playhouse, which is experiencing unprecedented growth.

Position Summary
The Fellowship will explore up to four areas of interest over the course of this fellowship to learn and develop skills in technical theater. Areas of focus include Scenery, Paints, Props, Costumes, Wigs, Sound, Lighting, Stage Management, and Production Management. The fellow will be responsible for engaging with each section and assisting in each department as a part of the learning process. Mutual goals will be set with the Fellow and GP to help guide learning outcomes. Additional learning opportunities/seminars will be part of the fellowship.

The ideal individual will have a curiosity for learning, strong drive to provide high-quality work, and ability to work as a part of the team. Gulfshore Playhouse values hard work, kindness, generosity, passion, and grace-under-pressure. Some weekend and evening hours are required including attendance at performances, special events, and/or meetings that may happen outside normal hours.

Fellows will have a multi-layered support system including:

  • Executive Learning opportunities with C-Suite and Director level staff
  • A dedicated training manager who will assist in the establishment of SMART goals
  • A supervisor(s) who will track goals and be responsible for the learning experience
  • A mentor who oversees the department

Key Responsibilities

  • Support current productions as relevant to the current department you are working in.
  • Observe processes such as creative meetings, production meetings, and technical rehearsals.
  • Collaborate with team members
  • Adhere to all safety protocols at all times
  • Collaborate with staff across departments on special projects and events.
  • Any other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Current college student, or emerging professional with an interest in production areas or theatre.
  • One to two years of experience in an educational theater setting
  • Experience in scenic, paints, props, lighting, costumes, stage management, and sound a plus but not required
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds of equipment
  • Ability to climb ladders, use mobile lifts, catwalks and work at heights
  • Ability to work overhead with heavy equipment
  • Ability to work in tight, enclosed spaces including ones in the air
  • Ability to work in dark spaces
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time depending on assignment
  • Ability to work in an environment with haze and strobes
  • Ability to work in and with proper personal protective equipment
  • Ability to safely operate shop equipment and tools

  • Duration: 2 months – June 1, 2026 – August 2, 2026
  • Location: Naples, Florida
  • Having your own transportation is highly suggested while in Naples
  • $300 Travel Stipend
  • Compensation: Furnished housing provided + $300 weekly stipend
