Inside the Rehearsal Room: Rehearsal Begins For The World Goes ’Round
Five extraordinary actors. Five amazing musicians.
The unforgettable music of Kander & Ebb. One very intimate room.
The music of John Kander and Fred Ebb is officially filling the rehearsal room at Gulfshore Playhouse, and if the first days of The World Goes ’Round are any indication, audiences are in for something special.
Rehearsal is now underway for the energetic, intimate musical revue running October 20 through November 22 in the 134-seat Struthers Studio.
GO INSIDE THE REHEARSAL ROOM:
Featuring five exceptional performers: Galyana Castillo, Alanna J. Smith, Chessa Metz, Matthew Michael Janisse and Jacquez D.L. Linder-Long, the production brings together some of the most memorable songs in musical theatre, including music from Chicago, Cabaret, New York, New York and Kiss of the Spider Woman.
And this is a cast built to deliver it.
Galyana Castillo appeared on Broadway in Sweeney Todd and toured nationally in Waitress. Jacquez Linder-Long returns to Gulfshore Playhouse following his performance in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. Alanna J. Smith recently played Hodel opposite Jason Alexander in Fiddler on the Roof. Chessa Metz made her Broadway debut in Suffs, and she’s a returning soprano soloist at Carnegie Hall. Matthew Michael Janisse has toured nationally in Beetlejuice, Something Rotten!, Cabaret, and Mamma Mia!. Together, these five performers bring a remarkable range of Broadway, national tour, and regional theatre experience to the Struthers Studio.
Directed and choreographed by Gulfshore Playhouse Associate Artistic Director Dann Dunn, The World Goes ’Round is being shaped by an equally accomplished creative team, including Music Director Trevor M. Pierce, Associate Music Director/Conductor Matthew A. Stephens, Scenic Designer Kristen Martino, Costume Designer Leon Dobkowski, Lighting Designer José Santiago and Sound Designer Bradlee Ward.
But audiences won’t experience this production from a distance.
The Struthers Studio will be transformed into a swanky club, with cabaret seating that brings audiences right into the room. With just 134 seats, the intimate setting puts every song, story and performance close enough to feel personal. The production takes the familiar music of Kander and Ebb and brings it together in a fast-moving celebration
Expect “All That Jazz.” “Mr. Cellophane.” “Cabaret.” “How Lucky Can You Get.” “And the World Goes ’Round.” And plenty more.
