Sophie Cooper

Education Assistant

Sophie Cooper (she/her) is a Theater Artist, Administrator, and Educator from Orlando. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Central Florida. Growing up, she was an active participant in educational theater, where she spent her childhood gracing the stage of the local talent show singing Wicked’s Popular or on stage as Jellyfish #2 in The Little Mermaid. She graduated into working as a Teaching Artist, Guest Director, and Performer across the Central Florida community. As the Education Director at Theater West End,, she had the opportunity to produce and direct countless K-12 productions. She also explored Hospitality and Event Management as an Events Coordinator at the Orlando Science Center. More recently, Sophie made the move to New York City to work for the Nederlander Organization as a Theatrical Intern and eventually, a Temporary / Interim President’s Assistant. Following, she joined Broadway’s 321 Theatrical Management as a Company Management / Marketing / Ticketing Intern. At 321, she directly supported the management teams at WICKED (Broadway, Tour), Death Becomes Her, The Outsiders, and Purpose, as well as assisted the Marketing and Ticketing departments. Sophie is committed to using educational theater to empower creatives and young performers. She believes in leading with curiosity and empathy in everything she does. She also enjoys exploring a good bookstore, chasing the next best latte, running around Disney World with friends, and discussing her favorite podcast or reality television show. Sophie is an opinionated eldest daughter, a joy to have in class, and thinks caring is the coolest and kindest thing a person can do. At the 2013 Tony Awards, Neil Patrick Harris swung from a life-size Tony Award proclaiming “There’s a kid in the middle of nowhere who’s sitting there living for Tony Performances. Singing and flipping along with the Pippins, and Wicked and Kinkys, Matildas, and Mormons. So, we might reassure that kid, and do something to spur that kid, ‘cause I promise you, all of us up here tonight we were that kid.” She is that kid.
