“Daily NewsMakers with Jeff Lytle” … Kristen Coury, founder and producing artistic director of Gulfshore Playhouse
Lytle: You say that when you choose your productions, you look for plays that people will remember.
Coury: I like to give people a full meal as opposed to an appetizer. I have seen, obviously, as being a theater professional for nearly two decades … I have seen a lot of plays that were not very good, and by the time I got to my car, I was turning the key in the lock and forgot what show I had seen — or wondered did I even see one?
And so my goal is to … whether it’s making people laugh, whether it’s making people cry, whether it’s making people angry, or happy or joyful, whatever it is, I want people to walk out, talking about it, excited that they spent their two hours with us and still remembering it.
