Acting for the Screen Masterclass with David Whalen

Gulfshore Playhouse favorite David Whalen, who has dozens of credits on the screen as well as the stage, will teach a masterclass about the essentials of acting for the screen. Having starred in both television and film, Whalen brings with him years of industry knowledge and secrets to success. Whalen has appeared in over 100 AEA productions across the United States, and starred on screen in the Showtime series “The Loudest Voice,” and in films like “American Pastoral” and “The Fault in Our Stars.”

Besides his film work, David is also an award-winning stage actor, having appeared in over 100 AEA productions from Shakespeare, classical, to contemporary plays including over a dozen World & American Premieres. He has performed in some of the nation’s finest theaters from New York to Los Angeles, including: The Guthrie Theater, Roundabout Theater Company, South Coast Repertory Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, The Laguna Playhouse, The Alley Theatre, The Huntington Theatre, Philadelphia Theatre Company, Syracuse Stage, The Folger Theatre, The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, The Arden Theatre, The McCarter, Everyman Theatre, People’s Light & Theatre, The Roundhouse, The Pittsburgh Public Theater, The Bienalle Festival in Venice, Italy, Center Stage, City Theatre Company, Gulfshore Playhouse, among many others.

Musical Theatre Masterclass with Broadway’s Laura Osnes

Two-time Tony® Award nominee and Broadway star Laura Osnes will teach a masterclass on telling a story through musical theatre. Drawing on her expertise as a leading actor in Broadway’s “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” “Bonnie & Clyde,” “Anything Goes,” “South Pacific,” and more, participants will get the exclusive opportunity to receive one-on-one feedback on a prepared audition song from one of Broadway’s biggest stars. For this event, please prepare a musical theatre selection. For this masterclass, registration will be capped at five participants. Registration will happen on a first come first serve basis and a waitlist will be available should registration close.

Laura Osnes is a two-time Tony® Award nominee for her performances as a Leading Actress in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Ella) and Bonnie & Clyde (Bonnie). Most recently, Laura starred as Maggie in Lifetime’s original film In the Key of Love. Additional Broadway credits include: Bandstand (Julia Trojan), Anything Goes (Hope Harcourt), South Pacific (Nellie Forbush), and Grease (Sandy). Off-Broadway credits include The Threepenny Opera (Polly Peachum) and Carousel (Chicago’s Lyric Opera House). Other NYC performances include Pipe Dream (Encores!) and Sound of Music (benefit concert at Carnegie Hall). TV Credits Include Grease: You’re the One That I Want, Pzazz 101, and The Miraculous Year.
