Organizers of the Gulfshore Playhouse are as smart as they
are dedicated to the arts.
Well in advance of the construction of their 499-seat permanent
theater on the northeast corner of U.S. 41 and Corkscrew
Road in Estero, Gulfshore Playhouse is hitting the
streets to tutor teens — and build loads of good will in
the process.
The most recent example of the troupe being ahead of the
curve is a seminar in Shakespeare for aspiring local
high-school thespians. Gulfshore Playhouse has partnered
with the community in other ways as well, including its annual Florida
Stories writing competition, which asks adults and children
to submit a monologue, poem or theatrical scene about
a memorable Florida experience.
And, by the way, just how lucky are we in Southwest Florida?
In addition to the Gulfshore Playhouse project, there
are plans for another Estero theater complex as well.
A 506-seat performing-arts hall with a 300-seat open-air amphitheater
are planned at The Art District at Rapallo at the southeast corner
of Williams Road and U.S. 41, next to Coconut Point.
Keep it up, Gulfshore Playhouse. You are keeping the arts
alive even before you’re officially off and running.
And keep us posted on the progress of your theater.
