| By providing in-school residencies in the art of theatre, professional teaching artists collaborate with students as they write and perform their own works, as well as previously scripted works including Shakespeare and other literary giants. Through observation and participation in pantomime, improvisation and other theatre “games”, students tap into their creativity, increasing self-awareness, self-confidence and self-discipline
Another workshop augments history classes by bringing important historical characters into the classroom helping students create original point of view monologues. Programs can include involvement in and exposure to both the technical aspects of theatre, as well as contemporary and classical performance.
In addition, the ART SMART program offers complimentary tickets to students of all socio-economic levels, helping to cultivate an appreciation of theatre in the next generation of theatre-goers.
Our workshops are presented in a 6-8 session series that, through collaboration with the classroom teacher, ties into the content curricula.
