FLORIDA PREMIERE OF A NEW MUSICAL COMEDY FEATURES BROADWAY TALENT
NAPLES, FL - February 28, 2008 -- As the finale to its second successful season, Gulfshore Playhouse presents The Florida Premiere of the new musical "Married Alive!" a four-character musical comedy featuring some of Broadway's finest actors and musical talent. Written by Sean Grennan with music by Leah Okimoto, "Married Alive!" is a touching tongue-and-cheek chronicle of modern marriage -- from Niagara to Viagra - as seen from the eyes of two couples: the wide-eyed newlyweds and seasoned "oldyweds". "Married Alive!" lampoons every subject from new babies to empty nests, job stress, sex, and everything in between. The cast of Broadway and off-Broadway talent includes Tony-nominated Broadway actress Catherine Cox in the role of Diane, who starred in the original "Baby" on Broadway, as well as "Footloose" and "Oh, Coward!". Stephen Berger, cast in the role of Ron, is often seen on TV's popular LAW & ORDER, has several Broadway credits include "Laughter on the 23rd Floor", Neil Simon's "Little Me", ''Wonderful Town" and "The Pajama Game". Stephen has been featured in numerous national tours and at many professional regional theatres including The Cleveland Playhouse, Dallas Theatre Center, Papermill Playhouse, and the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis.
No stranger to the professional stage, the second male lead, Brian Cooper as Paul, recently appeared in the National Tour of Miss Saigon and has performed in all fifty states in professional productions, including "Babes in Toyland" at Avery Fisher Hall, and as an original cast member in the off-Broadway hit, "End of the World Party".
Rounding out the cast is Summer Broyhill as Erin. Summer received a BA in Music from Florida State University, was in the national tours of "Hairspray" and "I Love A Piano", and appeared with a number of major professional theatre companies including Georgia Shakespeare Festival and the York Theatre Company.
Kristen Coury, Founder and Producing Artistic Director of Gulfshore Playhouse, will direct. She has directed several productions for Gulfshore Playhouse, but Kristen's professional career as director, writer and producer has been centered primarily in New York and London. Her feature film, "Friends and Family" has been released worldwide and is currently available on DVD.
Kristen has directed countless readings and new works, as well as frequently for the Hot Summer Nights at the Kennedy series in Raleigh, NC. She has worked for the English Shakespeare Company, in press and marketing, Disney Theatrical on international productions of "Beauty and the Beast" and for Andrew Lloyd Webber's production company, Really Useful, on the Broadway production of "Sunset Boulevard" and the National Tour of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat".
The "Married Alive!" Musical Director Gillian Berkowitz works frequently on Broadway and off, on such shows as: Broadway: Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia, Wicked, Drowsy Chaperone, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Boy from Oz, Tarzan, Aida, The Scarlet Pimpernel, Jekyll and Hyde, The Full Monty, Beauty and the Beast, Altar Boyz, Bat Boy the Musical, Fame, Streakin, Once Around the Sun, A Good Swift Kick.

On the rock scene he has worked with Meat Loaf, Billy Preston, Peter Frampton, Alice Cooper, The Who and Roger Daltrey. His symphony orchestra credits include The New York Philharmonic, and Sydney, Los Angeles, and Melbourne Symphonies. Keith's TV work includes The Tonight Show, David Letterman, The Tony Awards, and The Wizard of Oz in Concert at Avery Fisher Hall with Jewel, Jackson Browne, Natalie Cole, Joel Grey, Debra Winger and Nathan Lane.
