New Works Festival
August 12-17
Performances August 16 at 8 p.m.; August 17th 3 & 8 p.m.
Gulfshore Playhouse's First Annual New Works Festival is an exciting new addition to the programming The Playhouse is offering its audiences. Bringing together three playwrights and a team of actors and directors, this week long festival will offer a place for the playwrights to hone their plays and then present their work to an audience.
One of the most important steps for a playwright in the creation of a new play is the transition from writing in a solitary environment, to adding actors, and ultimately an audience to see how the play works in performance. Gulfshore Playhouse's audiences now have the pleasure of stepping into that incredibly magic space where a play is taking flight for the first time.
Throughout the week, these three selected playwrights will carefully craft their works with actor and director input, culminating in a weekend of three staged readings. Gulfshore Playhouse is thrilled to take our place in the development of new work in the American theatre, and even more thrilled to offer our audiences access at an incredibly affordable price.
